The images on this page are the luminance portion of LRGB color images. Luminance is also known as grayscale or white light images. Since the entire white light spectrum is recorded at once, these images have higher contrast, better limiting magnitude and less noise than filtered RGB images in less time. The tradeoff is no color but grayscale often shows faint parts of the image better.
